Baby Dedication

A baby dedication ceremony is an opportunity for parents/ guardians to acknowledge their new child as a gift from God and present him/ her before the Lord in the presence of friends, relatives and the wider church family. It is also a corporate occasion in which the child is officially welcomed and received into God’s Church generally, and the LGCC family specifically.

A baby dedication ceremony does not effect the child’s salvation and is not a declaration of a child’s faith. Rather, child dedication is much more to do with the parents’ commitment to raise their child in a way that will guide him or her into relationship with God. It is about the parents accepting the solemn responsibility to raise their child in the ways of the Lord.

Child dedication should also be distinguished from infant baptism. (At LGCC we practice believers’ baptism, as we hold that belief is a necessary prerequisite for baptism.)

If you would like to have your child dedicated, or if you have any further questions about the ceremony, please contact the Church Office for an application form. Please note, one or both parents/ guardians should be members of LGCC, and the child to be dedicated should generally be aged between 1 month to 2 years.
