Rewind: Staying Armed & Dangerous

Women's StormAt the “Armed & Dangerous” Women’s Conference in November 2010, God spoke to us about standing up and fighting. When you stand up, you are going to have to fight. David stood up against Goliath and he had to fight – literally. Daniel stood up and said he wouldn’t bow down to anyone but the Lord, and he had to fight in another way: with prayer, with holiness, with perseverance, with faith.

One of the key things about Deborah was that she heard God’s word and was willing to act on it, even to the point of putting her own life on the line. Hear God’s prophetic word to you today: “If you go out into battle, I will give you the victory” (cf. Judges 4:7).

Many people are afraid to step out - but fear will eventually paralyze us. We’ve got to get out from hiding in the trenches. Like Deborah, we’ve got to stand up from sitting under our palm trees and go out into the battle.

God needs a mobilised army willing to fight - not a sleeping, daydreaming, wounded, moaning, back-stabbing bunch of soldiers sprawled in the trenches.

If no one else would go today, would you? If no one else in the Church would stand up against injustice in our nation, would you? If no one else will say they are a Christian to their work colleagues, would you? Will you make a stand today, woman of God?

So you failed so many times? So you’ve been rejected many times? Stand up and fight. Refresh your perspective. God wants to give you victory in areas of your life where you have previously seen defeat, discouragement and despair. But it will require you to act.

And there might be pain. You might get hurt in the fight. You might be rejected and hated and falsely accused, but our God is for us and he will not forsake us in our weakness.

Many people are just letting the enemy walk all over them. If I came and heaped a barrow of cow dung on you, what would you do? The enemy is doing that and more to many of us, but sometimes we sit wallowing in it, wondering when it will go away. Get up, wash it off, start to defend yourself and fight back.

How do we deliver blows to the enemy? How did Jesus fight? Use the Word, the Sword of the Spirit, just like Jesus did against Satan in the wilderness. Fight with kindness and humility. Defeat evil by doing good. Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you (cf. Luke 6:27).

We must stand up and fight -  If you want victory, you have to become armed and dangerous.

BE ARMED [defend yourself]:

* have the right attitude
* realise who you are in Christ and what you have. In Christ you are chosen, you are loved, you are accepted, you are clothed in righteousness and you are seated in heavenly places. You are a daughter of the living God. Walk as if your father owns the whole earth
* take responsibility. You are on earth for a reason. Discover your call and your purpose.
* see things from God’s perspective
* don’t be naive, be prepared to be hurt, and learn how to deal with it
* put on the right armour
* realize you don’t fight alone.

BE DANGEROUS [fight]:

* train your hands to fight
* persevere – this is not an overnight thing. It takes discipline and effort
* understand the enemies tactics - how he hits you and hurts you, then you can learn to defend yourself. Be one step ahead
* identify your battle.

Don’t get caught up in the wrong battles. Some battles aren’t worth fighting - they are distractions. Fight the battles that stand between you and your destiny.

Is this the world you want your children to grow up in? A country where one in 7 children are abused? A continent where 120,000 women and children are trafficked for the sex industry every single year? A world with 140 million orphans?

It’s time to get fighting women. Nothing is going to change. It’s only going to get worse unless we stand up and fight.
