2010 Rewind: Let your ROAR be heard!

Men's roarProclaim this among the nations: "Prepare for war! Wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near, let them come up. Beat your ploughshares into swords. And your pruning hooks into spears; let the weak say, 'I am strong.'" (Joel 3:9-10)

Wake up, mighty men! We cannot afford to sleep any longer! Your family needs you! Your church needs you! Our nation needs you!

Research has demonstrated that if you lead children to Christ, 3.5% of their families will follow; if you lead mothers to Christ, 17% of their families will follow; but if you lead fathers to Christ, 93% of their families will follow! No wonder why the devil has launched such a demonic assault on the men. The devil is out to destroy families, and that’s why a primary objective has been to neutralise men and make them ineffective in the faith.

In many respects our roar – that symbol of authority which should strike fear into the enemy – has been silenced. It’s time to let the roar be heard!

The metaphor of the roar is an interesting one! It’s been said that, under the right circumstances, a lion’s roar can be heard up to 5 miles away. When the men of LGCC begin to roar – to take our place at the front-line - I believe many are going to feel the impact!

Interestingly, only lions that are part of a pride will roar. The Bible says, “as iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another” (Proverbs 27:17). The fact is that I need you and you need me. We are called to be a band of brothers – valiant men whose hearts have been touched by God (cf. 1 Samuel 10:26) – and this is one of the primary purposes behind our men’s network.

Lions also roar in order to communicate with one another. When an unwanted male infringes on another lion’s territory, the mother lioness listens carefully, as she watches over her lion cubs. The sound of the male pride mates roaring gives her security in knowing that they are safe from intruders. Men, this is a critical time for our nation. The enemy is looming large. Our roar needs to be heard as we stand in the gap for our women, children, church and nation! Let your roar be heard!
