After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly. (Acts 4:31)

After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately, "Why couldn't we drive it out?" He replied, "This kind can come out only by prayer and fasting” (Mark 9:28-29)

Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. (James 5:17-18)

Beginning Sunday 27th March 2011, we will be beginning a period of 40 days of corporate prayer and fasting for LGCC in the run-up to Igniter 2011. This period of 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting is a special opportunity for our church to draw nearer to God as we approach what will be our most significant corporate gathering in 2011.

Over the next 40 days, we ask that you give concentrated time daily to seeking God and lifting up LGCC and Igniter 2011 before him.

Please use the prayer points below as a starting point for your prayers. They are divided into general prayer points for LGCC, and specific points for The Igniter.

From Saturday 16th April, when we reach the "21 days to go" landmark, we will introduce the next dimension to this prayer strategy which includes additional prayer meetings in our network groups. For women (STORM), there will be evening prayer meetings on Tuesdays (19/04; 26/04; 03/05) from 7:30pm-8:30pm, and for men (ROAR) there will be morning meetings on Wednesdays (20/04; 27/04; 04/05) from 6:30am-7:30am.

A note about fasting:

Please note that we are NOT asking people to fast for the entire 40 day period. All that we are suggesting is that during this 40 day period you consider setting time aside to seek God and pray about our church. This could include fasting for just one meal or for one day every week, or just one day in the entire 40 day period. It could mean simply setting aside certain kinds of food, but it doesn’t necessarily have to mean that you even fast from food (for instance, you could fast from television or a certain hobby for a set period). The details are between you and God. The important thing about fasting is to follow God’s direction and to use the time to seek him, as opposed to simply going without food or something else.

However, before any kind of food fast, you are strongly advised to consult your doctor (especially if you do feel directed to fast for long periods). Some people may not be able to go without food for health reasons. If you have not fasted from food before, our advice is to begin with very short fasts. Remember that fasting for long periods of time does not necessarily equate to spiritual maturity. Please never go without water on a fast.

MONDAYS

General: Pray for the word preached from the LGCC pulpit (Jeremiah 1:9-10; Romans 1:16)

Igniter: Pray for each of The Igniter speakers as they seek to bring God’s life-changing rhema word to us over the 3 days of the conference: Dominic De Souza, Jodi De Souza, Joel Edwards, Jay Smith, Mark Melluish, Lindsay Melluish, Guy Brandon, Peace Ruharuza & Rob Joy

TUESDAYS
General: Pray for an increase in signs, wonders and miracles through the ministry and members of LGCC (Acts 4:33; Romans 15:18-19; 1 Corinthians 2:4)

Igniter: Pray for a fresh outpouring of the Spirit and a mighty demonstration of God’s power amongst us at The Igniter. Pray that every delegate who attends – whether from LGCC or beyond - would experience a touch of the fire of God and that their lives would never be the same again as the flames of personal revival are ignited within them

WEDNESDAYS
General: Pray for our leaders Dominic & Jodi and the rest of the LGCC team (Romans 15:30, 1 Thessalonians 5:25)

Igniter: Pray for the 100% mobilisation of LGCC members for Igniter 2011. Pray that neither money, sickness, indifference nor anything else would prevent them from attending this strategic conference. This is a national conference, so please also pray that God would draw those that need to be with us from far and beyond Letchworth

THURSDAYS
General: Pray for the LGCC worship team to rise to even greater levels (1 Samuel 16:23; 2 Chronicles 5:13-14). Lift up all the other ministry teams that we have at LGCC (Numbers 11:25; Romans 16:21; Acts 6:3-7)

Igniter: Pray for the office team and ministry leaders as they work hard to prepare for Igniter 2011. Pray also that God’s favour would rest upon all the practicalities of the conference

FRIDAYS
General: During this period of 40 days of prayer and fasting, pray for an increasing sense of family and unity amongst LGCC members as we draw closer to God and closer to one another (Acts 2:42-47). Dominic & Jodi have recently cast fresh vision and strategy for LGCC’s future - pray for a rallying around the cause of Christ within our local sphere

Igniter: Pray for The Igniter Kids Conference: Here Comes the Dreamer – that God would birth big dreams in the kids who attend and that each child would have a fresh encounter with Christ

SATURDAYS
General: Pray for God’s financial provision for LGCC – that there would be an abundance of finance so that we can do everything that God has called us to do and also be a blessing to others (Philippians 4:19)

Igniter: Pray that the spiritual climate in LGCC would be changed as a result of what God does in us through Igniter 2011. The main theme for this year’s conference is “light your world” – pray that delegates would be activated to be the difference that this world needs, both at home and in society

SUNDAYS
General: Pray for the lost (Luke 15:3-7; 2 Peter 3:9) – lift up the goal of 1000 people before the Lord (Isaiah 60:22). Pray for workers for the harvest (Isaiah 6:1-8; Ezekiel 33:1-7; Matthew 9:35-37). Pray for the follow-up of new believers as we seek to integrate them into the church (Acts 2:47; Galatians 4:19; Philippians 1:3-6)

Igniter: Pray for the Saturday evening concert with the Noel Robinson & Nu Image – that our Out3Reach friends, people from the local community, etc. would come and positively respond to the music and gospel message. Pray that the publicity campaign across the area would generate interest. Pray also for the supporting music act, The Heritage
