When and where Connect Groups & C3s meet

Connect Groups are to do with friendship and doing life together, and as such are much more than mid-week meetings. But insofar as it is important for us to deliberately and intentionally gather (and this is very important!), generally Connect Groups meet twice a month on alternate weeks (plus special occasions every so often organised by the group leader, e.g. to be involved in The Extra Smile Project or to go on a trip away or to have a special meal). Connect Groups can take place in homes, coffee shops, parks, gyms, etc. – anywhere except the church building!

C3s – which are small friendship groups based out of the Connect Groups – should also meet intentionally at least once a month (as well as keep in touch regularly in between), though in reality groups may meet many more times as it’s a gathering of friends after all. Again they can take place anywhere.

Connect Groups take place on alternate weeks (Week A or Week B). When you join a Connect Group, all you need to know is whether your iGroup meets on a Week A or Week B (see the schedule below, and speak to your leader) and that way you will sync in to the Connect Group schedule correctly.

In the week that your iGroup is not meeting, and assuming you are not a Connect Group leader as well, it is a good opportunity to meet with your C3 (we recommend that you meet intentionally with your C3 once a month, and even better if you can do it twice a month). However, is up to the C3 members when they decide to meet as a C3.

If you are a leader, then in the week that you are not leading your own group (oGroup), you will go to the group where you receive input from (i.e. your iGroup). This means that Connect Groups leaders have a scheduled meeting every week, alternating between going to a leader’s group for input (iGroup) and leading their own group where they output (oGroups). Therefore, Connect Group leaders will need to be more deliberate about finding opportunities to connect with their C3s. Remember, for scheduling and other reasons, leaders' C3s are formed out of iGroups not oGroups (i.e. you should not form a C3 with someone in the group you are leading).
