C3s

Despite what our culture of independence says, the truth is that we need each other. No man is an island, and no individual believer can function effectively alone. This is foundational to the New Testament. Every person needs a friend and, in turn, every person should be a friend to others.” Dominic De Souza, “Why I Need Church”, 2010

Every member of a CONNECT Group is also part of a C3 – a friendship group of 3 (ideally!), formed out of the CONNECT Group (so if there are 11 people in a CONNECT Group, there could be 3 groups of 3 people, and 1 group of 2). Though CONNECT Groups can be mixed gender (see below), C3s should always be same-gender groups and therefore do not consist of a husband and wife either.

A C3 is the basic building block of a CONNECT Group, and the irreducible core of what it means to be church. C3s are about intentional friendship. The main aims are:

  • to love one another
  • to laugh with one another
  • to support one another
  • to counsel one another
  • to care for one another
  • to hang out with one another
  • to share with one another
  • to build up one another
  • to be accountable to one another
  • to challenge one another
  • to pray with one another.

If you are a CONNECT Group leader, note that your C3 is NOT formed out of the group that you lead (oGroup) but the group that you receive input from (iGroup).
